Vintage hand-embroidered, handcrafted leather shoulder bag – Boho / Tuareg style
A magnificent authentic vintage shoulder bag, entirely handmade and decorated by hand.
A superb example of traditional Tuareg/Berber leathercraft from North Africa (Morocco), probably dating from the 1970s to the 1990s.
This bag stands out for its rich detailing and unique construction:
• Material: Thick, stiff genuine leather, in a natural camel/fawn colour.
Traditionally assembled without any industrial metal fittings.
• Decor: Magnificent colourful geometric embroidery created using fine braided leather strips (shades of red, green, yellow and white). Splendid geometric engravings and grooving on the back and beneath the flap.
• Finishes: Long, flowing leather fringes along the bottom and sides; fastens with a leather loop (cabillot).
• Storage: Large main compartment AND a large, flat secret pocket concealed beneath the embroidered front panel.
Dimensions (approximate): • Body of the bag: 11" x 11" (28 cm x 28 cm)
• Length of fringes: 12" (30 cm) Condition: Excellent vintage condition.
The leather is in good condition, the embroidery is perfectly intact and the colours are very well preserved. A unique and sturdy piece, perfect for a boho-chic look or for collectors of world crafts.
